Saturday 9th August 2014 - Married for 2127 days

The Venue

The ceremony and reception are both to be held at the beautiful Grade II listed Llangoed Hall. From the moment our wedding preparations began, we quickly agreed we wanted to tie the knot in Wales as it's Rachael's homeland, also for the stunning scenery and warm welcome that comes with it. Be sure to take in the breathtaking views en route to and at Llangoed Hall which has just been awarded the AA Hotel of the Year Award for 2013/14!

Name: Llangoed Hall

Brecon, Powys

History of Llangoed Hall:

The first record of the hall dates back to 560 AD and it's said that the First Welsh Parliament was held here.

After changing many more hands, the building as it is seen today was completed in 1919 by Edwardian architect Clough Williams Ellis, who went on to design the famous Italianesque village of Portmeirion.

By the 1970's, Llangoed was in danger of demolition and was only saved due to its historical and architectural importance.

In 1987, Llangoed was bought by Sir Bernard Ashley, former chairman of Laura Ashley PLC, where he restored the Hall to its former glory. The impact of Laura Ashley was also incorporated, one of the 23 bedrooms still has original Laura Ashley wallpaper and her first ever garment adorns one of the corridor walls.

Since opening as a luxury hotel in June 1990, Llangoed has achieved many accolades and tributes including Visit Wales Gold Award and Best British Wedding Venue on Sky Wedding Television.

In 2012, Llangoed Hall Hotel changed ownership once more. The new owner has confirmed his intention to continue the 'at home' experience which was originally established by Sir Bernard.
